PARIS NIGHTS

After all the years I’ve lived here, I am continually fascinated by the lights of Paris. Each evening, the Eiffel Tower glitters for ten minutes on the hour, casting its beacon across the city while the rippling Seine reflects the lights of Notre Dame and the Ile Saint Louis. Public squares glow at dusk, giving a mysterious aura to permanent art installations like Daniel Buren’s striped columns in the Palais Royal, still my favorite enclosed park in the city.

One evening, I went to hear my friend Jasmine Vegas belt out an eclectic mix of her own songs and French proletarian classics at a bar in newly trendy Marx Dormoy neighborhood in the 19th arrondissement. Jasmine’s unique style combines vintage and kitsch. Not to be missed !
